Harriet Tubman (1820?-1913) was one of the "conductors" on the Underground Railroad, bringing over 200 slaves to freedom in the North. They included her parents and three brothers. She went on to be a Civil War nurse and soldier, woman suffragist, and educator. In 1908, Tubman founded the John Brown Home for Aged and Indigent Colored People. This was her final home.
