The U.S. Supreme Court begins hearing arguments for five related school desegregation cases: Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, Briggs v. Elliott, Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward County, and Bolling v. Sharpe. The cases will eventually be consolidated under the name Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, the case that declares "separate but equal" school systems unconstitutional.
