King testifies before the platform committee of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, recommending a strong civil rights plank in the party platform. That evening, he speaks in Buffalo to the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity on "The Birth of a New Age" and recieves an Award of Honor.
