As community members begin to display active support for the Birmingham campaign in protests and sit-ins, dozens of marchers are arrested. The campaign is already receiving television coverage: the arrests of protesters and the police dogs used to intimidate them are being recorded.

A. D. King, a local Birmingham pastor and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s brother, and other ministers lead a march to the city's City Hall.
