President Kennedy meets with civil rights leaders to review results of efforts to end segregation, stress the responsibility of leaders to stay within the law, and to discuss the nature of proposed civil rights legislation. Kennedy attempts to dissuade them from holding the proposed March on Washington, although later he will publicly support the march.
