Clayborne Carson Receives Martin Luther King, Jr. Research Fellowship Award at Boston University

Also honored at the event were poet Sonia Sanchez and Paul Rusesabagina, noted for his role of saving Rwandans who escaped genocide by fleeing to the hotel he managed.
The award ceremony was preceded by a roundtable discussion on King's legacy. In addition to Carson, participants in the roundtable included Spelman College professor Christine King Farris, Dr. King's sister; Spelman psychology professor Angela Farris Watkins, Boston University Education School Dean Hardin Coleman, Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson, and Walter Fluker, head of the Leadership Center at Morehouse College.
